My name is Monika Hengesbach. I'm a lifelong Bay Area resident with 20+ years' experience helping business owners and professionals make smart tax and financial choices.
I graduated from Terra Linda high school in Marin County before earning my Bachelor’s degree in Business Management (with an emphasis in Accounting) from Sonoma State University. I started my accounting career while I was still attending college, spent over six years with a family-owned firm in San Rafael, and learned that a tax return is more than just a collection of numbers on paper forms.
I founded Decision Financial Services when I found myself raising a daughter on my own. Running my own practice lets me focus my services on high-income individuals, entrepreneurs, and family-owned businesses. I understand that most accountants do a fine job recording the history that you give them. But I see my real value as helping you write your own!
My firm's services include:
- Proactive tax planning to take advantage of every legal deduction, credit, loophole, and strategy.
- Fast, accurate tax preparation for businesses and individuals
- IRS problem resolution, including audits and offers-in-compromise
- Accounting and bookkeeping services designed to turn “data” into “information” and “information” into “wisdom.”
- Business planning and consulting informed by two decades’ experience making decisions and leading teams for some of the nation’s most prominent corporations
I currently live in Pleasant Hill with my mother and daughter, now 8 years old. My biggest passion outside of my family is constantly evolving menagerie of animals. I'm especially proud of the work I've done helping establish two Bay Area foundations, For the Love of Cats and CHIRP, to rescue cats and parrots.
